The classic and traditional “Pua `āhihi” honors the native `āhihi blossom that grows at the top of Lanihulu - one of the highest peaks in the Ko`olau range on the island of O`ahu. Leokāne pays tribute to the island where he was born and raised. The song was also a favorite of Aunty Carol Aluanu Kapu- also born and raised on O`ahu- who danced hula with Leokāne and friends in Hāna for many years. The song is dedicated in her memory. Aunty Carol’s daughter Annie dances this special hula in the YouTube music video found on this website.
