We had the pleasure of sharing our Hawaiian music and hula with our Santa Barbara community at the Community Arts Workshop! I was so lucky to be joined by the amazing Grammy-winning slack key guitarist, Jim “Kimo” West and to have our songs brought to life by the enchanting dancers of Ka Hale Hula 'O Pilialohaokalani O Hilo. The evening was a beautiful tapestry of Hawaiian nature and culture and an opportunity to fill the theater with the scent of plumeria and the spirit of aloha!
We shared traditional mele honoring many of the Hawaiian islands— but paid special tribute to Maui, our beloved second home, with our hope and message to support the island of Maui. I know firsthand the healing power of Hawaiian music and the magic it can create to connect us to each other and to the earth, no matter where we live.
I am very grateful to Santa Barbara Community Arts Workshop, SbAcoustic, the musicians, dancers, and all those who attended. My journey continues, and with it, Hawaiian music's gift to uplift and inspire. Mālama pono. A hui hou
